The dynamics of dating are always interesting to watch, especially the differences in the way people in certain cultures or different places experience certain behaviors or unwritten rules. In China, a currently trending topic is "easy girl", which mentions a certain belief that local girls (usually in East and Southeast Asian countries) favor foreign men.
This was a subject I was interested in as it has come up in many personal discussions with friends from cultural backgrounds within and outside China. I had a lunchtime discussion with another self-media personality - someone deeply involved in the world of Chinese social media - on the cultural weight and importance of the subject. He described the subject as ? ? ? (t, ngdi, n, painful place or sensitive area), which touches the cultural pride of a country, which is particularly attractive in the Chinese context.
The term "easy girl" pervades the Chinese Internet, and can often be found in the comments or comments section of videos that include sexual relationships. For example, in the summer of 2017, a story ignited a heated debate when a Spanish man was filmed in Chengdu having sex with a Chinese woman. Responses vary from inappropriate sarcasm to anger at the notion that foreign men see Chinese girls as "cheap" and "toys". Do a lot of blondes think that Chinese girls are 'easy girls'? A poster on Zehu asks a Qora-like Q&A platform. The page has been viewed more than 7 million times. Sometimes it is felt that interracial relationships can exist at all which is the cause of anger. "The BBC actually made a video on how to date Chinese girls, netizens angered," reads a headline on a piece in Sina. Never mind that the BBC video is actually titled "How's not a Chinese girl", and is sarcastic about exactly what white men should do if they don't date a Chinese girl Want to Superficially aware of the stereotypes associated with Chinese men and women. I think, as a Chinese American, I have always been aware of the stereotype of the appeal (or lack thereof) of Chinese men; The idea that Chinese girls are "easy" is another aspect of this coin - it is a wrong and dangerous idea, yes, but we cannot ignore that it exists
