The lack of a freelance translator may come as a surprise. Sometimes freelancers find themselves having to accept a big job from another client which sucks most of their energy into the business, although most of them still try to organize their time in such a way that they can accept small orders from regular clients.
Translation companies, thanks to their greater capacity, offer wider availability. The company has a database of freelance translators they used to work with, apart from those that may be dedicated internally to the most frequent clients or to the most in-demand groups. This means that customers will always be able to count on a larger team of professionals, which increases the availability of the service. For this to be possible without the risk of inconsistencies, translation companies must maintain a database containing all of their clients' translations (or translation memories as they are known in professional terminology) and, in some cases, specialized glossaries.

This criterion is directly related to capacity and availability. If we often have urgent projects without warning, we will naturally have to work with a company so that we can handle them, given the two previous criteria.
