Sette e Mezzo, or Seven and a Half, is another popular Italian card game that influenced the creation of Blackjack. The game was also popular in Spain where it was called Siete y Media. In Sette e Mezzo, players are dealt cards and hope to reach a total of seven and a half points. As with Blackjack, most cards have the same value as their number. One of the biggest differences between Sette e Mezzo and Blackjack is the value of face cards. In Sette e Mezzo, face cards are only worth half of a point. Also, all of the eights, nines, and 10s are removed from pgslot the deck. That means that Sette e Mezzo is only played with 40 cards instead of 52. Despite the differences, there is one major contribution from Sette e Mezzo that appears in Blackjack. In the Spanish version, players are allowed to “split” their hands if they are dealt two face cards. A similar option is available in Blackjack for players dealt two of the same card.
