Torchlight Infinite enters open beta this October, with a specific date to be revealed. The beta is available for pre-registration for iOS devices is available now.
Even before the launch, the Diablo community had mixed feelings about the impending sequel. Screenshots and video clips of the game showed an even brighter and more attractive design than the first two games, which were gothic and dark. Fans expecting a grimmer vision of a real-life Satan was disappointed by the new direction.
As we would later learn, Blizzard actually did design Diablo with a darker visual style , before adding lighter elements and a larger color palette. Blizzard poked fun at itself with its Easter egg Whimsyshire which is a land of unicorns which is more vibrant than anything else in the game. It's even preparing Diablo 4 with the promise of art direction more like Diablo 2.
While Diablo was preparing for launch, however there was a quiet protest before it even left the gates. Because the art style was that is so polarizing The proof has been found in the game. Once you've played upon Diablo, Blizzard suggested, you'd have to believe it.
Then, with an eager bunch of demon hunters itching to put the game through its paces to see how it handled the game, it was a bit of a surprise when it turned out that they were unable to actually play. Instead of receiving the game they had been waiting for for the better part of a decade, players got an unspecific message:
Without any clear indication of exactly how busy the servers were, or the length of time it would take to fix players were left in uncertainty. They didn't know what to do to check back in later, or give up entirely. Game director Josh Mosqueira later said that the game's launch was bigger than anyone on staff could have imagined, even after doubling and then tripling projections--in the book Blood, Sweat, and Pixels written by Jason Schreier.This was particularly disappointing due to the game's constant-online condition.That means that upgrades and the game's most powerful equipment will arrive significantly later than those who can invest in $5 or $10 on a daily basis.
