Follow the steps below if your HP printer won’t print black ink on your documents.
Replace the black ink cartridge in the printer with a new one.
Start the HP printer again.
Examine the connection.
Use the printer's built-in cleaning tool to clean the printhead.
In the printer software, check and adjust the color settings.
Restart the printer and then the computer before attempting to print again.
If none of the preceding steps work, reinstall the printer software.

If your HP printer is showing an "Error State" message, it indicates that there is an issue with the printer that is preventing it from functioning properly. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Printer Connections: Ensure that your HP printer is properly connected to your computer or network. Check all the cables and connections to make sure they are securely plugged in. If you are using a wireless connection, make sure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Restart Printer and Computer: Try restarting both your HP printer and computer. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve temporary issues.

Check Printer Status: Open the "Devices and Printers" or "Printers and Scanners" window on your computer and check the status of your HP printer. If it shows as "Offline" or "Paused", right-click on the printer and select "Use Printer Online" or "Resume Printing" to bring it back online.

Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or incompatible printer drivers can cause printing errors. Visit the HP website or use the HP printer software to check for and install the latest printer drivers for your specific printer model and operating system.

Clear Print Queue: If there are any pending print jobs in the print queue, it may be causing the error state. Open the print queue and cancel all the pending print jobs. Then try printing a new document to see if the issue is resolved.

Check for Paper Jams: Paper jams can cause printer errors. Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams or obstructions in the paper path. Clear them if necessary.

Reset Printer: Some HP printers have a reset function that can help resolve issues. Refer to your printer's manual or the HP website for instructions on how to perform a reset.

Check for Firmware Updates: Some HP printers have firmware updates that can fix known issues. Check the HP website or use the HP printer software to check for and install any available firmware updates.

Greetings,
Peter
