How to remove running suture, also known as a continuous suture, follow these steps:

Collect the following tools: Assemble a pair of sterile scissors and a pair of sterile forceps or a needle holder.

Get the patient ready: Ascertain that the patient is comfortable and properly positioned for suture removal. If necessary, use local anesthetic to numb the area around the suture line.

Locate the suture line: Trace the path of the thread along the incision or wound to identify the running suture.

Secure the suture by firmly gripping the knot or end of the suture closest to the beginning place using forceps or a needle holder. This will keep the suture from unraveling or sliding during removal.
