FFXIV has a lot of small Gil sinks built into its core gameplay. These can include teleportation, buying crafting materials, and even buying minions and houses. Keeping these costs in mind can help players manage their gil reserves. This will be especially important when they get to end-game content and are spending on items like glamour gear, mounts, and houses.
Teleportation
Players will spend a lot of Gil on teleportation costs later in the main story, as they visit places to complete quests, and do raid instances. One way to save some of this currency is by purchasing a large Aetheryte in each zone, which will automatically teleport gamers back to that location for a small fee. Another way to cut down on teleportation expenses is by using the Return command in dungeons, which will automatically teleport players back to their starting point of the dungeon.
Many other things will require Gil, such as upgrading weapons to beat raid bosses and dungeon bosses, obtaining more glamour items, buying a mount to show off your status as an upper-class member of society, investing in housing, etc. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to make money in FFXIV, and having multiple sources of profit is a good idea for anyone looking to grow their reserves. The most important of these is Ventures, which can be done solo or with a party and provides a steady stream of Gil.
Crafting
The most obvious thing that eats away at players’ Gil reserves are things like teleportation and buying crafting materials. However, there are a number of other ways that players can earn ffxiv how to make gil with relatively little effort, such as running dungeons, doing Challenge Logs and completing FATES.
While the gil earned from these is supplemental and not going to make anyone rich, they do help. Class quests are a common source of Gil for players who aren't in the party-forming business. They offer good XP rewards, gear, and skills, and can often be completed faster than running a FATE.
The problem with these is that they don't generate as much money as running a FATE or grinding through the Challenge Log. But the game's other main source of raw Gil, the Duty Roulettes, can be a great way to fill your wallet with minimal effort. These repeatable games offer a decent Adventurer in Need bonus, a fair amount of Gil, and Materia trade-ins.
Gardening
Having a good amount of Gil can make it easier to do a few things in FFXIV. It can help players port around Eorzea at will, buy catchup gear to make sure they don’t fall behind the current content, or stock up on consumables for high-level content.
One of the best ways to generate income in FFXIV is by gardening. This can be done in a player’s apartment, a FC private room, or if they own a house and have open up their Housing District. Players can purchase seeds from various housing merchant vendors for a low price, and then fertilize them with pomace throughout the year to grow beautiful flowers. These flowers can be sold on the Market Board for a high price. It’s also a good idea to plant Grade 3 Shroud Topsoil and Grade 3 Thanalan Topsoil, which can be exchanged for cash at the NPC Hismena. These items can sell for up to 1,950 Poetics apiece on the Market Board.
