It was a stormy night when Sarah first stumbled upon the mysterious bottle. Hidden deep in the back of a dusty shelf in a forgotten corner of an old pharmacy, the label read "Arthrogenix" in eerie, faded letters. The bottle promised to relieve joint pain, something Sarah had been battling for years. Her knees creaked, her back ached, and she felt like she was slowly aging into a fragile, broken version of herself. Desperate for relief, she took the bottle home, unknowingly bringing with her more than she bargained for.
The first few days were a relief. The pain in her joints started to ease, and she felt lighter, more energized. But soon, Sarah noticed something unsettling. The more she took Arthrogenix, the more she felt something was wrong—like a presence lurking in the shadows of her apartment.
At night, the creaking of her joints became the creaking of floorboards. Soft whispers echoed through the hallways, voices she couldn’t make out. Her reflection in the mirror would sometimes linger a moment too long, staring back at her with eyes that didn’t belong to her. The bottle of Arthrogenix seemed to pulse, almost alive, in the dim light.
One evening, as the whispers grew louder, Sarah opened the bottle for what she thought would be her final dose of the night. The powder inside had changed—its once white appearance was now an unsettling shade of dark red. But she was too far gone to care. She took a spoonful and swallowed, feeling a cold shiver run down her spine.
Suddenly, her joints locked, and she fell to the floor, screaming in agony. She could feel something crawling beneath her skin, twisting and contorting her bones. Her body, once fragile, now felt like it was being molded by unseen hands into something inhuman.
As Sarah writhed in pain, the shadows in the corners of the room seemed to grow darker, pulling closer to her, suffocating her in their cold embrace. She realized too late that the Arthrogenix she had trusted to cure her had, in fact, cursed her. The whispers grew into maddening laughter, and in that final moment, Sarah understood.
The bottle of Arthrogenix had not been made to heal. It had been made to take.
