Fildena Professional, like other medications containing sildenafil citrate, should not be taken with nitrates due to the dangerous interaction between these two types of medications. Why You Should Avoid Combining Fildena Professional and Nitrates: Risk of Severe Blood Pressure Drop: Nitrates (such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, or other medications prescribed for angina or heart conditions) work by dilating (widening) blood vessels to increase blood flow. This lowers blood pressure. Sildenafil (Fildena Professional) also works by dilating blood vessels, particularly in the penis, to increase blood flow and help treat erectile dysfunction. It does this by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). Combined Effect: When you take sildenafil and nitrates together, the combined effect of both medications can lead to excessive vasodilation (blood vessel relaxation), which results in a dangerous drop in blood pressure (hypotension).
