Hello there, I just took Spirit Airlines Miami International Airport Terminal for a visit to see family up north, and I have to say—it was a whole lot better than I expected.
I'll begin with the terminal. Spirit flies out of Concourse D at MIA, and all seemed to be in order and relatively up-to-date. Check-in was a breeze—we went through the kiosks, and there were helpful personnel nearby to assist with any problems. I did have one tiny glitch with my mobile boarding pass scanning improperly, but a personnel member promptly came over and resolved it.
Security was smooth although it was a fairly busy day. Lines moved quickly, and the TSA employees were actually in good moods (a rare thing, I know). Through, I was amazed at how much food and beverage choice there was. I picked up a sandwich and a coffee and settled into a comfortable spot by the gate. There were lots of charging areas and seating to be found, and this made waiting much more manageable.
Boarding was organized, and the Spirit staff was friendly. The flight was booked, but it departed on schedule and arrived on schedule. The seats were what you'd anticipate—trim but tolerable for a brief flight. I brought snacks along and downloaded a movie in advance, which I highly suggest if you're taking Spirit.
If you know up front, it's a low-cost carrier, you prepare well and behave. Flying Spirit MIA Terminal appreciated the savings. And, for quick travel that could easily become a flying nightmare due to budget constraints, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
