Due to reroutes across the Pacific caused by an Indonesian volcanic eruption, my layover in New Zealand abruptly extended into a multi-day stay. Everything was handled with grace by the United Airlines New Zealand Office They rescheduled my connection, located accommodations, and provided frequent updates to keep me at ease. At work, I made friends with other stranded tourists, and we even went sightseeing in Auckland together! Thanks to the help of that local United team, what began as a tense delay became an impromptu excursion. I will always remember vacation experiences like these.
