Hello, I recently got the opportunity to fly with Southwest Airlines HND Terminal through Haneda Airport in Tokyo, and I have to admit that the entire trip was remarkably seamless. I was rather impressed with Southwest's management of their operations in Tokyo, despite the fact that they don't have as much of an international footprint as some other carriers.
The terminal was clean, organized, and had plenty of English signage—which helped me and my family navigate everything easily. We arrived early, and check-in was efficient. The Southwest staff at the counter were genuinely friendly and helpful, which made the start of our trip feel relaxed. I had a few questions about our connecting flights and baggage, and they answered everything with patience and clarity.
Security moved at a decent pace, and once we were past that, we explored the terminal a bit. There were great options for food, including Japanese and Western choices (a quick sushi snack hit the spot before boarding!). There were also clean restrooms and plenty of seating near the gate, which made waiting more comfortable, especially with kids.
Boarding was quick and very much in the Southwest style—open seating, no fuss. It was great seeing how the airline maintained its customer-first attitude, even internationally.
Overall, if you’re flying Southwest from Tokyo, you’re in good hands. It felt like a smooth blend of Japanese efficiency and Southwest's casual, friendly vibe.
