Vilitra is a brand name for a medication containing vardenafil, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction. Like other phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil/Viagra or tadalafil/Cialis), Vilitra can cause serious side effects if taken improperly or in excessive doses. People at Higher Risk of Vilitra Overdose: Older Adults (65+) Age-related changes in metabolism and organ function (especially liver and kidneys) may lead to slower clearance of the drug, increasing overdose risk. People with Liver or Kidney Impairment These organs are responsible for metabolizing and excreting vardenafil. Impaired function can cause the drug to build up in the body. Individuals Taking Nitrate Medications Taking Vilitra with nitrates (commonly used for chest pain or heart disease) can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. People Using Alpha-blockers or Antihypertensives Combining these with Vilitra can also result in dangerously low blood pressure. Those with Heart Conditions Especially if advised against sexual activity due to cardiovascular risk. An overdose could trigger arrhythmias, stroke, or heart attack. Recreational Users Sometimes Vilitra is used recreationally or in combination with other substances (e.g., alcohol, stimulants). This increases the risk of accidental overdose and interactions. Men Taking High or Multiple Doses Taking more than the recommended dose (typically 10–20 mg) in an attempt to boost performance can cause overdose symptoms like severe hypotension, vision changes, or priapism (painful erection lasting >4 hours).
