Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should generally be avoided when taking Filitra (which contains vardenafil) because they can interfere with how the body metabolizes the drug. Grapefruit inhibits an enzyme in the liver and intestines called CYP3A4, which is responsible for breaking down vardenafil. When this enzyme is blocked, the concentration of Filitra in the bloodstream can rise higher than intended. This may intensify both its desired effects and its side effects. As a result, men may face an increased risk of headaches, dizziness, low blood pressure, flushing, or even serious complications like priapism or heart-related issues. To stay safe and maintain predictable results, it’s best to avoid grapefruit products while using Filitra unless a doctor advises otherwise.
