Filitra (which contains Vardenafil, the same active ingredient in Levitra) can be safe for smokers, but there are some important things to consider regarding smoking and how it affects your health, particularly when taking Filitra or other medications for erectile dysfunction (ED). How Smoking Affects Erectile Function: Smoking has been shown to negatively impact erectile function by affecting blood circulation and damaging the blood vessels. Over time, the toxins in tobacco can lead to reduced blood flow to the penis, which is one of the primary causes of erectile dysfunction. Smokers are also at a higher risk for cardiovascular diseases, Filitra can further impair erectile function. Smoking can increase the risk of arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), making it more difficult for blood vessels to dilate properly, even with the help of medications like Filitra. Filitra's Role: Filitra (Vardenafil) works by increasing blood flow to the penis, helping men with ED achieve and maintain an erection. It does this by inhibiting the enzyme PDE5, which causes blood vessels to relax and expand, allowing more blood to flow into the penis when sexually stimulated. If you are a smoker, Filitra can still work, but the underlying effects of smoking—such as poor circulation and vascular damage—might make the medication less effective than it would be for someone with healthier blood vessels.
