There are three types of dosha described in Ayurveda—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Vata is made of air and space and controls movement and nervous functions. Pitta is formed from fire and water and manages digestion and body heat. Kapha comes from earth and water and provides strength, stability, and immunity. Everyone has all three doshas, but in different proportions. One or two doshas are usually stronger. Knowing the types helps in choosing the right food, lifestyle, and therapies. Ayurveda uses this knowledge to create personalized wellness plans for long-term health.
