Rhizomes And Suckers are important vegetative structures that enable plants to grow, spread, and reproduce asexually. A rhizome is a horizontal underground stem that grows parallel to the soil surface. It stores food and produces new shoots and roots from its nodes, allowing the plant to survive unfavorable conditions and regenerate quickly. Common examples of plants with rhizomes include ginger, turmeric, banana, bamboo, and grasses. Because of their ability to produce new plants, rhizomes play a significant role in vegetative propagation and are widely used in agriculture and horticulture.

Suckers, on the other hand, are shoots that arise from the base of the main stem or from underground parts such as roots. These shoots develop into independent plants while still attached to the parent plant, receiving nourishment until they become self-sustaining. Plants like mint, chrysanthemum, pineapple, and banana commonly reproduce through suckers. This method ensures rapid multiplication and maintains the genetic characteristics of the parent plant.
