Honestly I never thought I'd be the one posting in a forum like this but here I am at 11pm trying to figure out where our small distribution company went wrong over the last two years. We started with like four employees and a pretty simple setup and somewhere along the way the whole operation just got messy and slow without anyone really noticing until the delays started adding up. A friend who runs a similar operation mentioned that tips for improving operational efficiency in businesses don't always have to mean expensive software or tearing everything apart, sometimes it's just about spotting the small friction points that repeat themselves every single day. That kind of reframing actually helped me look at our floor layout differently and I realized we had people walking way more steps than necessary just because of where we positioned our staging area.
