With the increasing number of diabetes cases, I’ve noticed many MBBS doctors considering a Fellowship in Diabetes Mellitus to upgrade their skills. It seems like a practical option for those who want to specialize without going for long-term programs like MD or DM.
From what I understand, this fellowship focuses on areas like diabetes management, insulin therapy, lifestyle counseling, and handling complications. It can be especially useful for doctors working in clinics or primary care where diabetic patients are very common.
One advantage is that many programs are flexible (online or hybrid), so doctors can continue working while studying. Also, it may help in building confidence in managing chronic patients and even open up better career opportunities.
But I’m still curious — is it truly worth the time and investment? Does it really make a difference in practice or career growth?
