I've had my Tiguan for about three years now and honestly it's been a solid car, but lately the air conditioning feels like it's barely blowing cold air and there's this faint whistling noise coming from the engine bay that's starting to worry me. I took it to a random garage near my office in Al Quoz because it was convenient, and the guy quoted me nearly two thousand dirhams to replace the whole compressor without even properly checking if it's just a belt or a refrigerant leak. That didn't feel right to me so I walked away. Now I'm stuck trying to find someone who actually knows Volkswagens and won't try to sell me parts I don't need. A buddy of mine who drives a Golf R told me to stop guessing and just check out this page now because apparently it breaks down exactly what to look for when choosing a workshop for German cars here. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a straight forward mechanic who can properly diagnose the AC issue and that weird noise without making me feel like I'm being taken for a ride. Have any of you had good experiences with a VW specialist that charges fair prices and actually explains what's wrong before fixing it? I don't mind paying a bit extra for someone who knows what they're doing, I just hate when garages throw parts at a problem hoping something sticks. Would really love to hear your recommendations before I end up wasting more time driving around to different shops. Thanks everyone.
