Heatmaps should not replace Google Analytics and the like. They are seated next to them.
Google Analytics has a high bounce rate. This is explained by the heatmap. Maybe people are continuing to click on
unclickable images, assuming they can get more info. Potential users stop filling in a form due to an irritating field.
Used together, the web analytics services are pretty great. The more numbers in graphs, the faster the decisions.
