With the first bit of warmth coming through, I just want to sit out on the terrace of my new little house and enjoy the morning sun. Problem is there's no furniture out there whatsoever. Haven't managed to pick anything up yet, and I'm not entirely sure what to put there anyway since the terrace itself is fairly compact. Plus I need furniture that can handle a bit of weather, not something I'll have to drag inside the moment it starts raining. What works best for outdoor use and where in the UK can I actually buy it?

British weather really tests outdoor furniture. One day you're sat outside in a t-shirt, next day it's chucking it down and blowing a gale. You need something that can take the battering without falling apart or looking rubbish after one season. A lot of people go for the cheap plastic stuff thinking they'll replace it in a year or two, but then it cracks or fades and looks grim almost immediately. The synthetic rattan's been getting more popular lately because it actually holds up in the rain without needing constant attention. For tight spaces, a bistro set usually does the job, just enough room for two without making the whole terrace feel cramped.

The trick with compact terraces is not cramming too much in there or it ends up feeling cluttered rather than relaxing. You want pieces that serve their purpose but don't dominate the whole space. Have a look at patio furniture in the UK here https://rengard.co.uk . They've got options designed to withstand the elements without needing to be hauled indoors every time the sky darkens. You can find sets sized for smaller areas that still give you a proper spot to sit with your morning coffee and actually enjoy the space you've got.
