I’ve been noticing a lot of MBBS doctors shifting towards dermatology lately, especially because of the increasing number of skin-related cases and the growing demand for aesthetic treatments. But I’m still a bit confused about whether doing a Fellowship in Dermatology is actually worth it or not.
From what I understand, MBBS gives only basic exposure to dermatology, and in real practice, managing conditions like acne, pigmentation, fungal infections, or hair loss requires more focused knowledge. A fellowship seems like a quicker way to gain that, but I’m not sure how deep the learning actually goes.
Also, does it genuinely improve clinical confidence when dealing with patients, or is it more of an add-on certificate? For those who have done it, did you see a noticeable difference in your daily practice or patient flow?
