Once your Amazon is already in maps and has a bit of gear behind her, Ice Shot starts to feel like a proper endgame bow setup rather than a levelling experiment. I wouldn't rush into it during the campaign. Most players are better off using grenade skills first, then swapping around level 85 or a little later, when early red maps are on the menu and POE 2 Currency can actually be invested into the pieces that make the build click.

What Makes the Build Work

The whole idea is simple: don't let monsters play the game. Ice Shot chills and freezes packs fast, and Herald of Ice does the messy work after that. When one frozen enemy shatters, the next pack often goes with it. You'll notice it most in Breach, Delirium, Legion, shrines, and stacked strongboxes, where density turns into damage. It's not a build that wants to stand still. You fire, move, adjust your angle, and keep the screen under control before anything dangerous gets close.

Quick Setup Notes

  • Use Ice Shot as the main clearing skill once your bow, accuracy, and crit chance are in a good place.

  • Keep Herald of Ice active for shatter chains, because that's where much of the mapping speed comes from.

  • Add Tornado Shot for wider coverage and awkward monster layouts.

  • Use Barrage for focused single-target damage when a rare or boss needs to die quickly.

  • Save Snipe for windows where you can safely stand still and land a heavy hit.

Bossing and Skill Flow

Boss fights are a bit less automatic than map clearing. A clean opener usually starts with Sniper Mark, mainly for damage and Frenzy charge support. After that, Stormcaller Arrow can help apply Shock, which makes your follow-up hits matter more. From there, Ice Shot and Tornado Shot help build freeze pressure, while Barrage and Snipe handle the burst. It's a rhythm build. If you panic and plant your feet too long, you'll get punished. If you keep moving and take your damage windows, it feels sharp.

Passive Tree and Gear Priorities

AreaWhat to Look For

Passive TreeProjectile damage, critical strike chance, elemental damage, accuracy, and life.

WeaponA strong Gemini Bow with high damage scaling and useful sustain.

ArmourCloak of the Crimson works well with Mystic Harvest and leech-based recovery.

JewelleryCold damage, lightning damage, accuracy, life, resistances, and useful spirit rolls.

JewelsBow damage, crit chance, and critical damage multiplier.

Ascendancy Choices

The Amazon ascendancy fits this playstyle nicely because it rewards aggression without turning the build into a reckless glass cannon. Critical bonuses scale both clear and boss damage, while penetration helps against tankier enemies that would otherwise slow the run down. Predatory Instinct is dependable, but Mystic Harvest is often the more interesting pick once leech and recovery are set up. That extra sustain lets you play forward, take space, and keep firing instead of backing off every few seconds.

Final Thoughts

Ice Shot Amazon is at its best when the map is packed and the pace is high. It clears fast, freezes often, and rewards players who like movement more than standing still. It does ask for investment, so don't expect magic from random levelling gear, but once the bow, crit, accuracy, and defences come together, it becomes a strong farming choice. Players saving for upgrades, including POE 2 Divine Orbs, will find it especially enjoyable in dense Atlas content where every shatter keeps the run moving.
