Boss farming has always been one of the most exciting ways to generate currency in Path of Exile 2, but not every boss is worth the investment. Some encounters require expensive setup costs and offer inconsistent rewards, while others can become reliable money-makers when approached correctly. After testing numerous farming strategies throughout the week, one method stood out far above the rest: farming the Arbiter of Ash.
To determine whether this pinnacle boss is truly profitable, 100 consecutive Arbiter of Ash runs were completed using approximately 500 Divine Orbs worth of fragments. The results were surprisingly strong, generating a total profit of 256 Divines and averaging around 64 Divines per hour. Here's a complete breakdown of the strategy, the costs involved, the loot obtained, and tips for maximizing returns.
How to Access the Arbiter of Ash
Before farming can begin, players must first complete the campaign and unlock the Atlas. The Arbiter of Ash is accessed through the Burning Monolith found within the Fortress area of the Atlas.
To activate the encounter, players need three different types of fragments:
Ancient Fragments
Faded Crisis Fragments
Vaaldout Crisis Fragments
Once all required fragments are placed into the Burning Monolith, the encounter becomes available and players can challenge the Arbiter of Ash.
One useful trick involves utilizing Atlas Masters. By activating Doryani and selecting the Head of the Snake bonus, pinnacle bosses gain a 25% chance to drop an additional unique item. This can significantly increase profits, especially when valuable unique drops are involved.
The downside is that using this setup reduces available revives during the encounter. Players with weaker builds may prefer avoiding this strategy until they are comfortable with the fight. In this test, the setup was combined with an additional revive from Stitch the Flesh, helping offset some of the risk.
Total Investment Cost
Running 100 Arbiter encounters requires a significant upfront investment.
The approximate costs were:
100 Ancient Fragments: 75 Divines
100 Vaaldout Crisis Fragments: 68 Divines
100 Faded Crisis Fragments: 370 Divines
The Faded Crisis Fragments accounted for the majority of the expense, making them the most important factor when calculating profitability.
In total, approximately 501 Divine Orbs were spent purchasing the fragments needed for all 100 runs.
Because fragment prices fluctuate regularly, successful farmers should monitor the market closely. Even small savings on bulk purchases can dramatically improve long-term profits.
Farming Speed Matters
One of the biggest advantages of the Arbiter of Ash strategy is efficiency.
A typical run—including entering the portal, defeating the boss, collecting loot, and resetting—takes around two minutes for a well-geared character.
Completing 100 runs required approximately four hours, even while interacting with viewers during a live stream. Dedicated farming sessions with fewer distractions could potentially reduce the average time even further.
Since profit per hour is directly tied to completion speed, optimizing damage output and reducing downtime can significantly increase overall earnings.
The Most Valuable Drops
The Arbiter of Ash has several unique drops, but one stands above all others: Diamond Jewels.
Diamond Jewels
Diamond Jewels currently sell for approximately 17 Divines each when left unidentified.
While identifying them can occasionally result in massive payouts, it also introduces substantial risk. For players focused on consistent profit, selling them unidentified remains the safest approach.
Exceptional Grand Regalia
Another highly desirable drop is the Exceptional Grand Regalia.
These items sell for approximately 4 Divines each when left unidentified. Similar to Diamond Jewels, identifying them introduces additional variance that many profit-focused players prefer to avoid.
