Hi everyone,
my oldest daughter is graduating next spring, and I am starting to look for local portrait artists in the Valley to handle her milestone senior portraits.
I am completely torn between booking an indoor studio session with professional strobe setups versus scheduling an outdoor shoot at sunset using Arizona's beautiful natural desert light.
I want these photos to look deeply artistic and unique, rather than standard, stiff yearbook close-ups.
For those who have planned family or milestone portrait sessions recently, which lighting style tends to look more timeless and flattering?
Thanks in advance.

Both options offer a completely beautiful aesthetic, but it truly depends on your daughter’s personal style and comfort level! Outdoor natural light during the "golden hour" creates an incredibly warm, organic, and lively vibe that works beautifully against desert backdrops.
On the other hand, indoor studio lighting offers precise control, allowing for dramatic, fashion-inspired portraits that look highly polished and modern.
If you want to look at a fantastic blend of creative photojournalism and striking fashion lighting styles for inspiration, you should definitely check out the diverse galleries over at http://carrieevansphoto.com to see what fits her personality best!
