Been outsourcing foil creating for around per year today for my leather goods (wallets, small journals, that sort of thing) and I'michael at the point where I'michael severely considering getting my own personal tabletop push rather than sending every thing out.
At this time tampografia doing about 80-100 pieces per month, all with exactly the same handful of designs. Outsourcing has worked great, however the turnaround time is beginning to feel just like a bottleneck, especially when I get a wave of custom/personalized instructions about the holidays and every thing gets copied waiting on the printer.
Things I'm wanting to weigh:
A basic tabletop press along with a pair dies would be a good amount of income upfront, but I keep performing the e xn y and it seems like it might pay for itself in just a couple of years at my volume
I'd have a lot more get a handle on around transformation, particularly for personalized objects wherever clients want fast shipping
I'm a little nervous about the training curve. My printer clearly has years of experience calling in heat/pressure options for leather particularly, and I don't wish to damage a number of substance figuring that out myself
Storage and room is really a modest situation too, I work out of a tiny studio and don't have a ton of space for extra gear
Has anyone built that jump from outsourcing to in-house, designed for leather things? A few things I'n enjoy sincere responses on:
How steep was the training bend for getting regular benefits on leather exclusively?
Did the cost actually spend off how you expected, or did unexpected costs (dies wearing out, material waste while learning, etc.) eat in to the savings a lot more than you thought?
Could you recommend starting with an information press, or could it be value paying more transparent for anything semi-automatic actually at an inferior size?
Wanting to make a decision before the holiday run visits again in 2010, so any true knowledge would support a lot.
