For small projects I usually rely on Context API, but I'm wondering when it's better to switch to libraries like Redux or Zustand. How do you decide which solution is the right fit?

I usually don't choose a state management library at the beginning of a project unless I know it's going to need one.

For smaller applications, the Context API combined with hooks like `useReducer` is often more than enough. It keeps dependencies low and is easy to maintain. Once I notice that state is being shared across many unrelated components, or I'm dealing with complex asynchronous updates, that's when I start looking at dedicated libraries.

If I want something lightweight with very little boilerplate, I generally prefer Zustand. It's quick to set up, performs well, and is great for most modern React applications. Redux makes more sense when I'm working on a large-scale application with complex business logic, multiple developers, or when I need features like predictable state updates, middleware, and powerful debugging through Redux DevTools.

For me, the decision isn't about which library is more popular—it's about matching the complexity of the application. Keeping things simple until there's a real need to scale usually leads to a cleaner codebase.

This is also the approach followed by many teams in a software development company in Kochi , where choosing the right architecture early helps build applications that remain maintainable as they grow.
