The first step to take when being asked to write a bibliography is to check the specific guidelines provided by your course. Different institutions may have different styles in formatting and referencing a bibliography and it is, therefore, always advisable to check the course guidelines. Next, know what a bibliography is and how it differs from a works cited page, and a reference page. A bibliography is a page that contains a compilation of all the sources that were used to aid in the preparation of the assignment. Unlike works cited pages and reference pages, a Bibliography for Assignment contains sources that were not necessarily cited in the paper. Similar to a reference page, a bibliography contains entries that are formatted based on the specific requirements.
The next step to take when writing a bibliography is getting to know the requirements of your specific course. Most courses are vibrant and diverse, meaning that some may require a bibliography to be compiled in a specific format, while others may not allow certain referencing styles.
Once the format and style are established, it's time to write! A bibliography consists of a listing the authors name, the title of the work, the city of publication, the name of the publisher, and the year of publication.
