Hi everyone,
My home uses well water, and we're experiencing common hard water issues like white stains on bathroom fittings, scale buildup in the geyser, reduced soap lather, and dry skin after showers. I'm planning to install a water softener for well water and would appreciate some advice from people who have already installed one.
I've read that a proper water test should be done before selecting a softener because well water may also contain iron, manganese, or other minerals that require additional treatment.
Some questions I have:
- What size water softener works best for a family of 4–5?
- Is an automatic regeneration system worth it?
- Does a water softener completely remove hard water problems?
- How often do you need to add salt and perform maintenance?
- Are there any reliable brands or suppliers you recommend?
I'm looking for a long-lasting solution that protects plumbing, geysers, washing machines, and other household appliances.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
