Wanted to share something I learned the hard way. We run a small fleet of box trucks, and for a while we treated washing as purely cosmetic — something you do before a big client meeting, not a regular maintenance task.
Turns out that was a mistake. One of our mechanics pointed out that built-up road salt and grime was actually accelerating rust on a couple of the undercarriages, and what should've been a simple wash job basically became a bigger repair issue. That's when we started taking fleet pressure washing seriously as part of routine maintenance, not just an appearance thing.
Since switching to a regular washing schedule with a mobile crew, we've noticed fewer corrosion issues and the trucks just hold up better overall. It's a small line item in the budget, but it's saved us from a couple of expensive repairs already.
If your fleet is only getting washed "when it looks bad," might be worth rethinking that — grime does more damage than it looks like from the outside.
