The biggest source of complexity in Freecell Solitaire is the importance of each move. Unlike many games that allow players to make random choices and recover later, a careless move can create problems several turns afterward.
Players need to think ahead before moving a card. Sometimes the best decision is not the move that immediately reveals a new card, but the one that keeps more possibilities available for later.
