I’ve been thinking about how much the condition of a room can affect a home studio or rehearsal space. Rooms with carpet can collect dust, dirt, and other particles over time, especially when musicians are regularly moving equipment in and out.

For Audio Engineers and Musicians, keeping the space clean seems particularly important because microphones, speakers, cables, and other equipment can sit in the same environment for long periods. At the same time, I’d be hesitant to use strong-smelling chemicals around sensitive equipment or in a poorly ventilated room.

Does anyone here have a preferred way of keeping carpeted music or rehearsal rooms clean while avoiding excessive moisture, residue, or harsh cleaning products? I’m especially interested in methods that allow the room to dry relatively quickly so the space can be used again without a long wait.
