The frustrating part of a grenade setup in Path of Exile 2 is often the long stretch before the weapon feels like it belongs to the build. Damage can seem acceptable while the rotation still feels slow, and replacing a decent weapon may create a new problem instead of solving the old one. That is where Path of Exile 2 Currency decisions become important. Jiquani's Soul Core of Munitions adds +1 to the level of all Grenade Skill Gems when socketed into a weapon, requires level 50, and is limited to one. The real question is not whether the bonus looks attractive, but when it improves the complete weapon enough to justify the trade.

What Munitions Actually Improves

Munitions connects the weapon directly to the grenade part of the character. Instead of improving only one named skill, it raises every Grenade Skill Gem supported by the setup. That matters most when the build uses a primary grenade for damage and other grenade skills for coverage, control, or specific encounters.

The bonus is therefore more valuable across a complete rotation than in a character that relies on one ability and ignores the rest of the grenade skill group. A single level may not transform weak gear into a finished build, but it can strengthen several active skills at the same time.

? The Soul Core supports all Grenade Skill Gems rather than one selected grenade.

? Its value increases when multiple grenade skills remain part of regular play.

? The level requirement makes it a later progression option rather than an early leveling solution.

Do Not Sacrifice the Weapon Base

The most common mistake is treating Munitions as permission to use a poor weapon. The weapon still needs enough general offensive value for the character. Depending on the setup, that may include attack speed, weapon damage, critical scaling, or other modifiers that keep the rotation responsive and consistent.

A weapon with the Soul Core but weak fundamentals can produce a higher skill level on paper while making clearing feel worse. This is especially noticeable when grenade skills require setup time or when the character needs several actions before the main damage arrives.

? Keep a weapon with strong general stats in serious consideration before adding Munitions.

? Compare the complete damage cycle, not only the displayed skill level.

? Treat the Soul Core as an enhancement for a competitive weapon, not a rescue tool for a bad one.

When the Upgrade Makes Sense

The best moment to use Munitions is usually when the current weapon has become the clear restriction, while the replacement already performs well in other areas. A new rare weapon with better base performance may be worth choosing even if it lacks the old weapon's exact secondary modifiers, especially when the Soul Core helps cover part of that loss.

The reverse decision is just as important. Replacing a well-rolled weapon only to obtain +1 Grenade Skills may not be efficient if raw weapon damage, speed, or critical support drops sharply. Compare both weapons in the actual content you play, including how quickly packs fall and how long bosses remain exposed.

Mapping, Bossing, and Long-Term Progression

Mapping usually rewards a smooth rotation. If several grenade skills are already used during pack clearing, the shared level bonus can improve the consistency of the whole sequence. Bossing demands a stricter check because delayed damage makes weak weapon fundamentals more noticeable.

Use Munitions when it strengthens a weapon that already fits the build's rhythm. Keep enough resources available for the rest of the character instead of spending everything on a single upgrade. cheap POE 2 Currency Orbs may help with progression costs, but the purchase should support a sound weapon choice rather than replace one. Judge the finished setup by damage, speed, and rotation comfort together, then commit the Soul Core only when the weapon remains a genuine endgame improvement.

Planning a Grenade build in Path of Exile 2? Jiquani's Soul Core of Munitions adds +1 to all Grenade Skill Gems when socketed in a weapon, so pair it with a rare that already suits your build.
